Re-Logic, the developer and publisher of Terraria, has published its Terraria State of the Game for September 2026, the latest monthly update for one of Steam’s longest-running sandbox games. The headline news is that Crossplay Phase One should be in players’ hands in the near future. The studio shared the update on September 24, 2026 through a Steam Community post. The announcement follows a multi-week international trip that started with Gamescom and ended in China, while the rest of the team has been putting the finishing touches on Crossplay Phase One alongside a handful of lingering fixes that remain from version 1.4.5.8.
Crossplay Phase One and Terraria 1.4.6
Re-Logic describes Terraria 1.4.6 as “Pulling It All Together” and says the update will be Phase One of Crossplay. The studio is now combining the PC and DR Studios developer update sections of State of the Game into one section moving forward. Finishing touches are being put on Crossplay Phase One now, and Re-Logic expects that submission to be ready in the near future and will share the moment it happens. Fans of Stardew Valley have long asked the same cross-platform question about that game’s PC, console, and mobile versions.
The plan is to try to get Phase Two out as soon as possible behind Phase One, but the studio says it might have a little something for everyone in between the two. No details were given about what that something could be, and Re-Logic did not share any further specifics about the in-between plan.
First Fan Event Since 2011
After Gamescom, some Re-Logic team members attended TapTap Game Fest 2026 in Shanghai. The studio says this was the first formal fan event the team has been part of since 2011, when co-creator Red did a handful of press interviews alone around the launch of Terraria. The team had two on-stage sessions at the event and said they were overwhelmed by the number, passion, and positivity of the fans in China.
tModLoader October Update
The regular monthly update release of tModLoader for Terraria 1.4.4 goes live on October 1st, containing mainly bugfixes. This update continues the team’s regular monthly release schedule for Terraria 1.4.4. The tModLoader team spent the last month updating its 1.4.5 preview branch with all of the 1.4.5.8 hotfix changes. The tModLoader 1.4.5 release is still many months away, with more community code contributions, bug reporting, and testing needed.
