Thanking Indie Developers Day Five: Subset Games

by GH Staff

Adding to our growing list of indie game developers, Gamer Headlines recognizes Subset Games and their game as our fifth entry. Released on September 14, 2012, FTL: Faster Than Light is a spaceship simulation game that emphasize for players to make hard but tactful decisions throughout the gameplay, such as managing the maintenance crew and power systems, attacking the right enemy, and even exploring the way-points due to the fuel consumption. What typically generates an applause from fans and critics is the rougelike setting; basically, players must somehow survive until they reach the end because they will start over from scratch if they perish.

After two years and regular updates on this project, the developer released a newer version called FTL: Advance Edition on April 3, 2014. Folks can currently grab this impressive title for the PC, Mac, and Linux.

Besides the general description, here are two responses from two individuals who want to say thanks!

“Play this game for a long time and it is pretty fantastic! Though I died so many times the hard challenge was welcoming and has a nice background music. The developer should release a sequel!”

“This stunning masterpiece really tests your mental capabilities to withstand pressure of handling a chaotic screen filled with various changes including the vigorous movements of the artificial intelligence and your on-going endurance to continue the Galactic Federation’s mission. Although some players and I have died countless times to achieve this simple objective, the failures will help in the long-run. Even though I’ve been playing this project for years, the developer has been good at providing new updates and contents. Therefore, thank you for the hard work, stress, and time into this memorable space adventure!”
