Bethesda has announced the release date for its upcoming survival horror game The Evil Within. A new IP from legendary developer Shinji Mikami, the game will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, and PC August 26, 2014 in North America with a release date of August 29, 2014 for players in Europe.
Developed by the team at Tango Gameworks with Mikami at the helm, according to Bethesda:
“The Evil Within embodies the meaning of pure survival horror. Highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story are combined to create an immersive world that will bring you to the height of tension. With limited resources at your disposal, you’ll fight for survival and experience profound fear in this perfect blend of horror and action.”
Players take control of Detective Sebastian Castellanos. Castellanos’ partners encounter a mysterious yet powerful force, and after seeing their fellow officers slaughtered in front of them, Sebastian is unfortunately knocked unconscious. After awakening, the detective finds himself in a world where frightening creatures walk among the dead. Thus, Sebastian begins a bone-chilling journey to discover exactly what is behind this mysterious force, all the while trying to escape and ultimately, survive.
