The Last of Us has become one of the staples of the video game blockbuster game, coming out of the gates with great game play and an incredible story line. With the release of The Last of Us: Remastered tomorrow, Sony has come out with a new video of actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson talking about their experiences with The Last of Us. Troy Baker played the role of Joel, while Ashley Johnson played the role of Ellie.
The video takes on the personal interview style with Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson asking each other questions about their stories from The Last of Us. Johnson recalls almost getting physical with the actors on set while they were doing the motion capture as part of her acting while Baker recalls being nervous about the role he was in. As someone who is in the theater scene, it’s nice to see actors able to open up about their process and their experience before they get into their roles. The behind-the-scenes always brings light to how difficult each line delivery is, with each new decision that the actor makes is crucial to how the character is portrayed. Baker also goes on saying that he has an instant connection with Johnson, which is extremely crucial to how this game plays out. It wasn’t that Baker thought she needed to care of, it’s that he wanted to. That kind of connection is exactly what gives The Last of Us the competitive edge over any other game. When the actors are that invested in a character, the gamers can tell when they’re playing and are immediately sucked in.
There are other questions included in the video which help show this argument, but also may spoil some of the endings for those who have played, so those who haven’t played The Last of Us, be warned about that. The Last of Us: Remastered comes out tomorrow, July 29th, 2014 and PS4 owners can’t wait to get their hands on this masterpiece once again.
