by GH Staff

Following the recent leaks regarding a potential PS4 version of the multiple award-winning 2013 game The Last of Us, we get some new solid information about the game’s PS4 port, as well as a confirmation that Naughty Dog will indeed bring the game to Sony’s new console. This time, it’s not just rumors started by hopeful fans. The Last of Us will be coming to the PS4 sometime this summer, but a release date is still eluding us. Pre-orders are already available though, and the game will set you back $60. It’s unclear whether or not owners of The Last of Us on PS3 will have the possibility to upgrade freely or not. Regardless, here are the perks for pre-ordering:

  • 100 Supply Points (XP) for use in Factions mode
  • Two special bonus skins for Joel and Ellie which will be unlocked after your complete the single player campaign
  • Increased Crafting Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
  • Increased Healing Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
  • 9mm Reload Speed Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign
  • Rifle Clip Capacity Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign

Getting a digital copy of The Last of Us from the PS Store will also net you some bonuses, as follows:

  • Early Access to the Brawler Survival Skill in Factions Mode
  • Early Access to additional Loadout Points for use in Factions mode
  • Early Access to the Jeep Cap and Surgical Mask for use in Factions mode

That being said, what can users expect from the PS4 version of the game? Well, it’s not just support on the new console, that’s for sure. The Last of Us will run at 1080p (probably at 60 FPS too) on the PS4, and characters will be getting considerable texture upgrades. Improved shadows and generally improved textures and models will also be included. The PS4 version will also include all the expansions and DLCs for the game, and will sport a hefty amount of director commentaries from voice-actors and key Naughty Dog development team members. “Whether you are new to The Last of Us or have played it already on the PS3, we hope you are all looking forward to this release. We are!” was Naughty Dog’s statement regarding the game’s next-gen port, and we definitely are eagerly anticipating its release.
