EA and Maxis shipped The Sims 4 Quality of Life update on September 22, 2026, bringing PC version 1.128.90.1030, Mac version 1.128.90.1230, and Console Version 2.39. The patch was influenced directly by player feedback from Discord Dev Q&As, Reddit, and top-voted issues on the EA Forums.
Smarter Sim autonomy
The biggest focus of the patch is Sim Autonomy. Maxis said the team made dozens of tweaks so Sims act more logically and realistically, including making eye contact during conversations and washing their hands in the bathroom sink instead of walking to the kitchen. Relationship autonomy was also tuned and balanced for the Lovestruck and Growing Together expansion packs, so Family Dynamics and Romantic Satisfaction feel more in line with player expectations.
Free Base Game children’s items
The update adds a brand-new collection of Children Items to the Base Game for free, as part of an ongoing effort to celebrate age diversity and representation. New Build Mode items include The Crayon Chronicle, the "Look What I Made!" Frame, Family Game Night Favorites, Junior Artist’s Paint Palette, a Make-Believe Wall Mural, Bright Blocks Playroom Chair and Table, and The Dino Dive Tank. New Create a Sim items for kids include a sweatshirt, polo shirt, khaki shorts, sequin top, ruffled blouse, jeans with lace detail, one new hair, and four adult hair conversions for kids. Toddlers get a t-shirt, colorful glasses, and a denim dress.
The Base Game additions also include a new Styled Room, new kids Styled Looks, and a new household uploaded to the Gallery from the Maxis account.
Stability and bug fixes
The update addressed top causes of crashes to improve game stability. Notable bug fixes include married couples no longer reverting to Partners when entering Create a Sim through Custom Tattoo planning or Plan Outfits, a fix for Time and Sims freezing when a Sim tried to use an object while another Sim was in their spot, and a fix for interactions getting stuck in a Sim’s queue relating to sleep and chat especially group chats. Maxis also fixed Sims becoming idle and frozen after WooHoo if an autonomous interaction was queued, Infants being placed on top of each other or popping out of their Playmat or Crib, a roof trim fix, and Sims spamming dance interactions from stereos. Sims who Dislike Dancing will no longer autonomously dance.
