Less than a week before its release, EA have announced a statement on their official Facebook page saying the highly anticipated FPS game will not be released in South Africa. The news comes after last month’s beta tests performed poorly in the region. In the statement, Electronic Arts South Africa found “performance rates were not as high as [they] need to guarantee a great experience.” The company understands fans will be disappointed, but remains optimistic that future plans could see it being released at some point.
Titanfall was released in closed beta for multiplayer testing in February 2014. It became available to registered Xbox One and PC users running Windows. Over two million fans worldwide were given the opportunity to take part in the event and get a copy of the game. Developers, Release, then opened up the beta on both platforms to gain a more substantial opinion from a wider audience.
Titanfall has been in development since 2011 and was originally supposed to be developed for previous generation consoles. After several problems conceiving the idea, fans will no doubt be excited about the up and coming release dates. The game will be available on March 11th in North America, March 13th in Australia and many part of Europe, And the UK will be able to get their copy on March 14th. Xbox 360 customers will be able to purchase the game on March 25th and 28th in North America and Europe, respectively.
UK fans will also be able to enjoy a discounted bundle deal where they will be able to purchase the Xbox One console with a copy of Titanfall, plus an additional game, for £399. There will also be a season pass available worldwide containing three additional map packs, though the pass will also contain other material as well.
