Raiden is returning in Mortal Kombat X
After much waiting today saw the reveal that to nobodies surprise, Raiden is returning in Mortal Kombat X and we even got a new trailer revealing how he fights.
For reasons best not spoiled Raiden is one of the few returning characters from Mortal Kombat 9 and in his reveal trailer we see that NetherRealm Studio are going to take full advantage of Raiden’s status as a thunder-god with his three character variations.
In Mortal Kombat X all characters have three unique variations to their combat style which completely change who they fight and in Raiden’s case he gets the Thunder God, Displacer and Master of Storms.
With the Thunder God variation all of Raidens attacks get a boost in damage as Raiden channels his electricity into dealing extra hits in his combo’s. This variation is suited more for players who enjoy using long strings of combo’s and is also the more straightforward of Raiden’s variations.
Displacer meanwhile focuses more on teleporting around the your opponents and confusing them on where your going to strike next. Displacer has a lot of opportunities for combo’s but unlike Thunder God, it’s more of a hit and run variation so moving around is key.
Raiden’s last variation is Master of Storms and is probably going to be the most annoying out of the three to fight against because it’s based around trapping your opponent. If the trailers anything to go by Raiden’s traps will be able to link themselves together making them even harder to avoid. This makes Master of Storms perfect if you’re the sort of fighter who likes to keep your opponent under your control.

So Raiden is returning in Mortal Kombat X but to end this off I’d like to point out that the trailer ends with his fatality where he shoots enough electricity into his opponents head to cause their eyes to pop out, nasty but is it gory enough.
Mortal Kombat X is due out next year for PC, Xbox 360/One and the PS3/4.
