Total War: Warhammer Accidentally Revealed

by GH Staff

The game everyone has been expecting for a while now, Total War: Warhammer, has accidentally been revealed in a new book.

The book, titled The Art of Total War, features the below quote from Creative Assembly’s Mike Simpson, where he is talking about the history of the Total War series and says the company are now ”taking the series to a fantasy setting with Total War: Warhammer.”

The book wasn’t due to launch until the end of this month, but a Total War forum member received their copy early and discovered the reveal. Now the game is out in the wild, we will probably receive a formal announcement from Creative Assembly in the next few days, albeit earlier than they may of had planned.

Back in 2012, Sega and Creative Assembly signed a deal allowing them to create a series of Warhammer games in their ever-popular strategy series. The team making the game was created specifically for this, and a quote from the company read: ”a new high-calibre development team has been set up at Creative Assembly’s UK studio to work alongside the existing Total War, Alien IP and Mobile teams on the first Warhammer title in the deal”.

Tim Heaton, studio director at CA, also said of the deal: “We’ll be doing the Warhammer universe justice in a way that has never been attempted before.”

After the deal was made, expectations were that we wouldn’t see a Total War: Warhammer game for a while, at least until CA were done with their Alien IP, which turned out to be Alien: Isolation. Now, with that game done, we expect the developer’s are working a full throttle with the new game. The next title to be released in the Total War series will be Total War: Atilla.
