What originally debuted as an Ouya exclusive, TowerFall was released for PC and PS4. The archery-based combat game is now available for Mac and Linux.

TowerFall originally debuted as an Ouya-exclusive title back in Summer 2013. The archery-based combat title was one of the Ouya’s most popular games, and eventually received a PC and PS4 port as TowerFall: Ascension, both of which released in March. The single-player mode includes time-based archery challenges, where the player must hit a certain amount of targets within a time-limit. Multiplayer is where TowerFall shines, as it features a four-player battle royale, complete with power-ups and defensive tactics.

Over the weekend, the Ouya title has been ported onto two more platforms. Along with PC and the PlayStation 4, TowerFall: Ascension is now available for Mac and Linux computers. To celebrate the release on the two additional platforms, TowerFall is 33% off, selling for $9.99 through the official website.

The Ouya is an Android-based micro-console that was originally funded through a Kickstarter campaign. At the time, the campaign raised $8.5 million from backers, making it Kickstarter’s 2nd most-successful crowdfunding campaign. Released in June 2013, the Ouya features of plethora of titles aimed at a “casual” audience of gamers. Along with the ability to support applications such as TwitchTV and variations of the XBMC media center, the Ouya is also an open-source console, allowing users to develop for- and modify- the console without having to deal with licensing issues.

TowerFall: Ascension is an expanded version of the original Ouya release. The PS4, PC, Mac and Linux edition of TowerFall also includes a Co-Op mode, and several new multiplayer maps.
