Evolve has gone gold, meaning developer Turtle Rock Studios has finished production on the 4v1 monster shooter and the game can now be sent to the disc production lines. The developer made the announcement via Twitter.
The game, due to launch in February has also had it’s opening cinematic released in celebration by publisher 2K.
Turtle Rock will be running an open beta for Xbox One players next weekend, so those who haven’t been able to get their hands on the anticipated shooter will get a chance a month ahead of the official release.
Evolve will see 4 players take the role of Hunters, each with separate classes such as Assault and Trapper, while another player takes on the role of the Monster. The Hunter’s mission will be to dispatch the Monster before it is able to fully Evolve (ha!) and kill them all. So far 8 of the 12 Hunter classes have been revealed, while 4 of the ”variety of Monster classes” have been shown off: Wraith, Behemoth, Goliath and Kraken.
In a fun and heartwarming aside, the team promised not to shave their beards until the game was completed. Now, they have shaved and the collective amount of hair measured 227.5 inches, with Turtle Rock pledging $50 to the charity Child’s Play. The total contribution has reached $11,375.
Evolve will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on February 10th, 2015.
