A Tutorial On How To Jailbreak iOS 8 And 8.1

by GH Staff

The Apple iOS is considered to have improved over the past few versions, but this has not stopped developers from creating jailbreaks. Even the recently launched iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 devices can be jailbroken as per a tutorial found on Gizmag.

Jailbreaking of the devices is relatively simple and anybody following step by step instructions will be able to handle the process smoothly. That being said, jailbreaking will void the warranty of the device, but users will have the option of returning back to the factory version of iOS. There is a very tiny chance that something might go wrong during the process and render the phone unusable. Although the probability of this event is very low, users who are not comfortable risking their devices should not try a jailbreak.

All that a user needs for this process will be a Windows PC with iTunes installed on it. The user will need to connect his device to the PC to start the process. As a precautionary measure, it is advised that users back up all of their data before they start. Users are also advised to turn off any sync features and personalized services such as the find my device feature. This is to ensure that the process has as much memory and processing power available to it. It is also wise to keep the device in airplane mode in order to avoid interruptions during the process. The next step will require the download of a software called Pangu from the internet.

The correct version of the software corresponding to either iOS 8 or iOS 8.1 should be downloaded and installed on the PC. Once the program is installed and run, it will identify the iOS device attached to the PC. Following the identification of the device, the Panguprogram simply requires the user to click on a button which starts the jailbreak. The device will reboot several times during this process before completion. Once completed the user will receive a notification and can then access the Pangu app on restarting the device. The final step in the jailbreak is to open the Pangu app and to install the Cydia app from there. Once Cydia is installed, the device is successfully jailbroken and can now be used to its full potential.

In case of any problems during the process a few steps can be taken to avoid problems. The device should be connected to iTunes on the PC, but the sync feature should be turned off. The power button on the device is to be held down for ten seconds, released and then held down again for five more seconds. This will prompt the screen to blank out and iTunes will provide the user with the option of installing and restoring the iOS 8 or the iOS 8.1 to the device.

Jailbreaking the devices allow many additional capabilities. The user gets much more control over the device and is also able to support other applications and programs which would otherwise be incompatible with the standard iOS versions.
