After Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Unity would be locked at 900p and 30 FPS across both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to avoid debates and arguements, Ubisoft have issued an apology stating they would never constraint one of their games. The post was made on the Ubisoft Blog.
‘Let’s be clear up front: Ubisoft does not constrain its games. We would not limit a game’s resolution. And we would never do anything to intentionally diminish anything we’ve produced or developed.’
So, of course this begs the question, why did Senior Producer Vincent Pontbriand state that ‘We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff.’ According to the Ubisoft blog post, Pontbriand ‘chose the wrong words‘ and has apologised for what he stated about locking them at the same specs.
Assassin’s Creed Unity will be running at 900p and 30 frames per second on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Ubisoft have stated they have spent much of the past few months getting Assassin’s Creed Unity to run smoothly with 900p and 30 FPS, so that is what we’re getting. They also said they wanted to ‘focus our resources on delivering the best gameplay experience‘. Well I don’t know about you, but for the best gameplay experience I like 1080p and 60 frames per second, especially on next gen hardware.
Assassin’s Creed Unity will be releasing on November 11th in the US and November 13th in Europe. It will be releasing on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
