Ubisoft, one of gaming’s most notable publishers, has a slew of next-gen titles ready to steal the spotlight in 2014. Since the Xbox One and PS4 released this past November, there haven’t been many next-gen only titles available. Much of what has released on next-gen has also released on the 360 and PS3. Even with current gen releases, Assassin’s Creed IV and Rayman: Legends have found success on next-gen hardware. With Watch Dogs and The Division set to release on the Xbox One and PS4, this developer seems to be on an even more prosperous path this generation.
Although Ubisoft has found a great deal of success with its current gen lineups, its next generation offerings have gamers gleaming with anticipation. Watch Dogs, announced back at E3 2012 will lead out the gate in just a couple of months. Originally set to release with Xbox One and PS4 at launch, the game saw a significant delay into the spring of 2014 for continued polish. The game features an open world environment similar to gta with a huge emphasis on hacking your surroundings using advanced technology. Another title in the works, The Division, has been making waves with its impressive new game engine, SnowDrop. This third person shooter will aim to please both action game enthusiasts as well as fans of MMO games. There has been no official word on release date other than it’s slated for the end of 2014.
Ubisoft looks to take full advantage of the Xbox One and PS4 architecture and it’s becoming more and more appealing to upgrade to one of these new consoles. The Division with the SnowDrop engine has shown the capabilities of these new machines and great success seems almost imminent for these developers and their publisher. As for the greatly anticipated Watch Dogs, only a little over two months remain before it launches May 27th on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC. The game will also come with exclusive content on the PS4 and PS3 versions.
