Ubisoft Montreal Felt It Was a Little Early to Unveil Watch Dogs at E3 2012

Watch Dogs made an appearance at E3 2012 and it no doubt got many gamers excited, yet it seems that Ubisoft Montreal did not share the same enthusiasm as everyone else. The developer felt that it was quite early to be introducing the game into the public eye. In the latest issue of EDGE, creative director Johnathan Morin stated that CEO Yves Guillemot “forced” the studio to show off the game at E3 despite their feelings that the unveil was premature.

In the issue Morin declared, “they forced us to go at E3 2012.” “We didn’t know what the hell those new consoles would be, so Watch Dogs really has worked on [seventh]-gen systems since the start. But we always pushed the ideas, the design, the core of Watch Dogs in such a way that we felt it would fit well with what we thought would be the future of games.”

“Yves was the one who wanted us to go at that E3, even though we felt it was a bit early, and in the end I think he was right.”

The wait for Watch Dogs was ongoing since its introduction back in 2012 but this year the gap will come to a close as it’s scheduled to release May 27th on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. For those of you Wii U users a release date is yet to be announced so unfortunately your long-term postponement continues to thrive.

Let me know if you’re excited for Watch Dogs and whether or not you feel that the introduction at E3 2012 was too early.
