Uncharted Writer Amy Hennig on EA’s Star Wars Game

by GH Staff

Amy Hennig, the Uncharted series’ former writer, has now been hired by EA to work as a Creative Director on Visceral’s  new Star Wars game. This comes less than a month after Amy’s departure from Naughty Dog, which she had left because of certain issues with Naughty Dog, after working there for 10 years as a Creative Director, adding her own personal touch to the Uncharted series and Jack and Dexter. Though her departure stirred up controversy because people claimed that the Last of Us creators forced her out of the company, which she denied instantly, she has gotten to the front page once again after tweeting about her new job at Visceral.

EA posted a welcome letter to Amy on their page today.

Here is an excerpt:

“Amy has long been recognized as one of our industry’s top visionaries, and is coming off an amazing run as the Writer and Creative Director of the Uncharted franchise. But her contributions go beyond the games she helped create at Naughty Dog and at Crystal Dynamics, where we worked together many years ago. As both a colleague and friend, I’ve always admired her approach to creative development – focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player.  This fits in perfectly with what we’re trying to do here at Visceral and Amy’s going to help us continue in our pursuit to make the most thrilling, immersive games in the world.”

Amy Hennig is one of the best writers out there and I personally cannot wait to see what she will bring to the table for the new Star Wars game. Although the Star Wars franchise has many eager fans waiting to jump at a screw up, Amy never fails to disappoint avid gamers and, we hope at least, won’t let us down here either.
