Sorry Wii U owners but Watch Dogs “will be the only mature game” Ubisoft are releasing
Today sees another hit to the Wii U’s reputation as Ubisoft CEO Guillemot announced that Watch Dogs “will be the only mature game” Ubisoft are releasing on the Wii U.
The reason behind this is that since there release at the Wii U’s launch day, ZombiU and Assassin’s Creed 3 have failed to live up to the sales Ubisoft had aimed for.
It should be noted that the only Assassin’s Creed game Ubisoft released on the Wii U was Assassin’s Creed 3 and if they’d released Assassin’s Creed 4: The Black Flag those figures would have been a lot better.
This news means that the recently announced Assassin’s Creed: Rouge and Unity won’t be coming to the Wii U any time soon.
As it turned out software sales on Nintendo home consoles only accounted for 3 per cent of Ubisofts today for the end of their business year in March.
This doesn’t mean that Ubisoft are cutting the Wii U completely out of their future release schedules but instead there going to be more selective about what they’re releasing. According to Guillemot:
“What we see is that they are very interested in Just Dance, very interested by other kinds of games. So what we are trying to do is to focus more on the types of games they are interested in.”
This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has lost trust in the Wii U since Rayman Legends was originally going to be a Wii U exclusive and back in June Ubisoft announced that they have a game completed for the Wii U but aren’t going to release it till the consoles user base is big enough to justify the investment.
So Watch Dogs “will be the only mature game” Ubisoft are going to release on the Wii U but if you’re a Wii U owner what’s your opinion?
