Brace yourselves, space cowboys are coming. Carbine has finally lifted the curtains and has revealed that their highly-anticipated science-fiction-humorously-space-exploring-limb-shattering MMORPG Wildstar will be landing on local PCs on the 3rd of June. Forecasts show this year’s summer will be a hot one, mainly because of the excessive heat your laser rifles will be emanating when you’re trying to blow off your neighbor’s head. In any case, Wildstar’s pre-orders will become available on the 19th of March, so time to break that piggy bank.
Pre-ordering Wildstar will have some interesting benefits. Those that pre-order will have guaranteed access to beta-testing weekends, will be granted a 3-day early access when the game is launched (which means early access will begin on the 31st of May), will get bonuses to inventory management in-game via a storage bag, the ability to reserve character and guild-names prior to launch and will of course receive a rocket house. While the last item on the list doesn’t seem especially functional, nobody can deny its “coolness” factor.
Wildstar will be launching in two versions. The Standard Edition will set you back $59.99, and will include 30 days of play-time (yes, Wildstar will have a subscription fee as well, time to lay-off the Elder Scrolls Online hate and channel it on Carbine, I guess) and will grant you three 7-day long passes to gift to friends. For $74.99, you’ll also be able to pick up the Digital Deluxe version, which will obviously include all the goodies of the Standard Edition, plus an array of Wildstar customization options, such as custom dyes or costumes.
To accompany the announcement, Carbine executive producer Jeremy Gaffney announced that “We’re looking forward to seeing the first players begin their journey on the unexplored planet of Nexus. Both noobs and MMO vets will have a blast with our fast-paced combat, while experienced guilds and groups will build complete battle-fortresses using our Warplot system and tackle some truly epic raids. We’ve aimed for fun and unique content for MMO gamers of all stripes from level one to level cap and beyond. WildStaris a brand new IP and new universe that has attracted more than 1.4 million beta signups already, so it seems like other gamers are also eager for something new and different in the MMO space.”
And of course, here’s the trailer that accompanies the launch-date reveal. Are you excited about Wildstar’s release, or are you going to skip this one?
