Through their official blog, CD Projekt RED announces that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not have a DRM! “I’d like to say it loud and clear, the PC version of The Witcher 3 will have absolutely no DRM from day 0. Zero. Zip. Nada” said Marcin Iwinski, CD Projekt co-founder and joint CEO.
He also explained he does not understand the point of a protection system that can be “bypassed” when needed, a system however that is stressing over the limit the end user, that one person who actually buys the game!
Technically speaking, the game will not use Havok either, as the physical effects will be calculated using NVidia PhysX. It will be adapted for DirectX 11 and Tessellation and the Windows PC edition will have a different interface than the one developed for consoles.
Depending on the decisions made by the main character Geralt, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could offer about 50 hours of play just for completing the main campaign, while the RPG universe can be changed for about 36 times during the game play. We will have the option of three different concluding chapters, each an hour long.
While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be the last chapter of the series, we will have the opportunity to explore the Skellige islands and the capital city of Novigrad. According to the polish developer, the transport between the main land and the islands will be made through ships. The players will also have the possibility to import the save games from the previous titles. These saves however will not modify or influence the story of the game.
The story will take place on an open world, 35 times bigger than in the previous game, The Witcher 2.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the latest chapter in the story of Geralt and contains over 100 hours of play. The campaign and the side missions can be completed in any order we want.
