Wolfenstein: The New Order will get a special $100 set of collectible items, with the recently announced Panzerhund Edition. However, this probably shouldn’t be confused with an actual Collector’s Edition of the game, as the Panzerhund Edition is missing one important item- the game itself.
The Panzerhund Edition collector’s set is now available for pre-order through Bethesda’s online store. This set will have a limited release of only 5,000 units, and comes in a “vintage footlocker-style box”. Each box measures roughly 20″ x 10.5″ x 8.5″, and includes an individually stamped number plate. Much like Batman: Arkham Origins – Collector’s Edition, Panzerhund Edition includes a “classified documents” folder, with mock-up case files, maps, and an x-ray. The main feature of this collector’s set is an articulated Panzerhund statue. Each box includes an 8″ hand-painted Panzerhund statue, sculpted from PVC and ABS. Within an additional velvet-lined tray, owners will find an exclusive Wolfenstein: The New Order case from Steelbook, and 14 colored “weathered-looking” postcards referencing the universe of Wolfenstein.
Lining the box are several smaller compartments; these house three embroidered patches and “custom molded replica” dog tags. Bethesda notes that the Panzerhund Edition does not include Wolfenstein: The New Order, as buyers would then be at the mercy of waiting for their game to arrive in the mail:
This collector’s edition does not include a copy of the game. Keep your pre-order at your favorite retailer and we’ll send you these goodies separately—this way we can ship these boxes worldwide and you’re not stuck waiting for your game to come along with an oversized, expensively shipped box.
While this is an online-exclusive item, the Panzerhund Edition releases alongside The New Order on May 20th. Wolfenstein fans, if you have the extra $100, would you consider this to be something worth buying?
