After taking 4th place for 2013 Best grossing free-to-play games according to Superdata passing games such as Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic, the infamous tank simulator World of Tanks has passed the 1.1 million concurrent users milestone.
Developed by Wargaming.net, World of Tanks was released firstly in Russia and was featured at E3 winning the “Best New Concept” award back in 2010. Since then, the game has won many gaming awards and the love of thousands of players. The developers are constantly trying to evolve the franchise and have released an aerial version of the simulator – World of Warplanes. They areĀ are planning to release a naval version – World of Warships as well as mobile version of the tank simulator, called World of Tanks Blitz for the Android and iOS devices.
However, even though the number sounds big, League of Legends still holds the record for free-to-play MMOs with 5 million concurrent users reported by Riot Games back in March, 2013.
