To everyone’s surprise, Sony released its much rumored handset which is the Sony Xperia Z3 just barely six months after the launch of the Sony Xperia Z2. According to the company, this recent flagship is an enhanced version of its ancestor and is a part of its desire to offer the best specs to its users. While it’s great to have another option, many people are wondering if the Z3 is really worth it given the relatively small time frame between the release of the two devices. Below is information on what Sony has done with its latest flagship.
Design
As with the design, the Xperia Z2 has an aluminum frame which was adopted by the Z3 along with added design features. The curved edges of the latest version are more emphasized than its predecessor while its tempered glass made it look more classy. The overall designs of the two phones compared, the Z3 is much sleeker which is 7.3mm compared to the 8.2mm of the Z2.
Display
Those who were thinking that Sony would equip the Xperia Z3 with a QHD screen were disappointed because the manufacturer opted to have the same 5.2-inch Triluminous 1080 IPS LCD technology. While it may not seem like there’s been an upgrade done on the screen of the new Xperia, there’s actually a little bit more on the brightness level which should be noticed. The Sony Xperia Z2 has brightness levels of 460 nits only while the Z3’s is able to reach up to 600 nits. Also, the newer version is known to be a lot easier when used under the direct heat of the sun which is something that many people are looking for.
Camera
It’s not surprising anymore for Sony to have decided to keep the 20.7MP rear camera on the Z2 to its latest flagship but it still has made improvements at least on the its features. The new features that aren’t present on the Xperia Z2 device include Live on YT, Steady Shot, AR fun, Boosted ISO and Multicamera.
Battery
The Sony Xperia Z2 features a 3200 mAh battery and the Sony Xperia Z3 comes with a 3100 mAh battery. While it may seem like the Z2 has better battery, the Z3 is actually designed to be better than its predecessor because it’s able to sustain for 2 days while the Z2 can only last for a maximum of 1.4 days.
If you’re currently happy with your Sony Xperia Z2, there’s no need for you to upgrade to the latest flagship of the company. On the other hand, if you’re the type of person who is looking for a great new top of the line handset, the Z3 has it all.
