Xbox One to XBOOK ONE: Custom-built Xbox One laptop out now

XBOOK ONE - Xbox One laptop

In the past, hardware modder, Edward Zarick, has worked on building portable, custom Xbox console-based laptops, which he loving calls “XBOOKs.”

With 2013’s Xbox One release, his last Xbox-related project, the XBOOK 360, became old news. Determined not to be left in the dust, Zarick quickly went to work on his new project…

…the XBOOK ONE.

Check out what Zarick has to say about his XBOOK ONE below:

“It was only a matter of time until I got around to making a XBOOK ONE! For those of you not familiar with my previous work on Xbox laptops, I call them XBOOKs. I made quite a few of the XBOOK 360s over the last couple of years, probably around 30 of them. But the Xbox 360 is old news…out with the old, in with the new! So I now announce the XBOOK ONE! One of the first Xbox One Laptops. Hope you like it as much as I do!”

The previous XBOOK 360, which Ed Zarick had to be commissioned to build, cost prospective buyers around $1,000. Gamers interested in his newest iteration, the XBOOK ONE, can expect to pay upwards of $1,100 even if they use a personally owned Xbox One console. Individuals who want an XBOOK ONE, but do not own an Xbox One must be willing to shell out around $1,500 (including shipping and handling).

Additionally, clients commissioning Zarick to build one of his Xbox One laptops must drop down a $750 deposit. Zarick states that the project takes about 2 – 3 weeks to complete.

Keep in mind, any form of hardware modification to the Xbox One voids the console’s warranty.

However, Zarick emphasizes that no performance enhancements or improvements of any kind have been made to the stock Xbox One console’s internals.

As for the XBOOK ONE’s hardware specifications, they are as follows:

  • Xbox One console (obviously)
  • 22-inch Vizio LED 1080p monitor
  • Slot-loading, front-facing disc drive
  • 3D-printed components

Note: The XBOOX ONE works with Microsoft’s Kinect peripheral.

Zarick also states that buyers can choose the color of the accents and corniers, as well as the color of the acrylic.
