Starting today (8/16/2014), Arkane Studio’s award-winning stealth-action title, Dishonored, is free on Xbox 360 for Xbox Live Gold members until the end of the month. Unfortunately, the game’s DLC is not included. In the game, you play as Corvo, an assassin hired to protect the empress. Long story short: Things go terribly wrong. You’re assigned the task of taking out all the bad guys, protecting the princess, and saving the empire. Dishonored puts on emphasis on exploration, allowing players the freedom to choose their route of action. Do you want to skulk amidst the shadows, silently taking out guards on your path to the target? You can. Would you rather harness mystical power in one hand and a brandish a pistol in the other, wreaking havoc on those who would dare cross your path? Well, you can. Perfect for either the aspiring ninja or diabolical sociopath in all of us.
Microsoft is doing their best to keep up with industry rival, Sony, by offering free games to Xbox Live Gold members. With the recent news that the PlayStation 4 is outselling the Xbox One by a significant amount, Microsoft desperately needs to regain some footing. Xbox’s Games With Gold system is an attempt to compete with Sony’s value-filled PlayStation Plus, and this month’s offerings are not too shabby at all. You can find more general information regarding this month’s Games With Gold games here.
