Starting today, September 29, 2026, Xbox Insiders can get an early look at Mythic Achievements, a new way to celebrate games completed and milestones earned on Xbox. The system is designed to show when a player has finished everything a game originally had to offer.
A Mythic Achievement is earned when a player completes all original achievements for a game. Achievements added later through DLC or updates are not required for Mythic status. Once Mythic status is earned, it is permanent. Mythic Achievements have already been applied to eligible games completed in the past, including Xbox 360 titles. That means past completions are recognized automatically, and the status will not disappear if new add-on achievements appear later.
How Mythic Achievements are presented on profiles
The Xbox profile now includes a new Gaming tab showing achievements, a next Gamerscore milestone badge tracker, and completed games. Mythic Achievements are highlighted in a player’s achievement history with a heroic frame, showing how many have been earned. Players can visit friends’ Gaming tabs to see their accomplishments and which games they have taken to Mythic. The heroic frame gives completed games a clear visual marker in the achievement history.
Tracking progress toward Mythic status
A new progress bar at the top of each game’s achievement list shows how close a player is to Mythic status, with an option to focus on the original achievements still needed. Achievements added later are tagged “add-on” so players can tell what counts toward Mythic. Similar progress information appears across Xbox, including in the Guide and achievement details. This keeps the requirement focused on the original achievement list rather than later content.
How to join the Xbox Insider preview
The Xbox Insider Program can be joined by downloading the Xbox Insider Hub for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Windows PC. The Mythic Achievements rollout follows other Insider testing covered in the Xbox Insider preview for Chicken Invaders Collection and the latest Next Week on Xbox roundup. Players who opt in can check the new Gaming tab and achievement lists to see whether their completed games have earned Mythic status.
