[dropcap size=dropcap]X[/dropcap]box One was released several days ago but the console is still in the headlines. First, Microsoft had to deal with some errors and glitches. Then, they announced record sales and now, Jeff Henshaw, Engineer manager on Xbox One came up with a new idea. According to him, Xbox One is not just a next gen console. It is also a futuristic device similar to what we have been seeing in sci-fi movies. In a recent interview with gotgame.com, when asked about similarities between the devices from Marty’s house in Back into the Future 2 and the Xbox one, Jeff replied:
“A lot of the reviews of Xbox One are saying that it feels very futuristic, as you begin using your voice to navigate and browse through the experience, as you begin being welcomed back into the room by name. As you begin asking Xbox One with your voice to bring you specific games or TV shows, songs or movies, it absolutely does feel futuristic. It feels like the future has arrived in your living room with Xbox One. Xbox One does make it easy to get to the things that you want and makes it easy to browse for the things that you’re not sure you want yet.”
According to the Xbox One engineer, the feature to lead the way to what the console is now was the Kinect sensor that has been used with the Xbox 360. Thus, the next gen console engineers were able to focus on a new way of interaction between the user and his or her device, an interaction through voice commands and gestures. “Xbox One, since every single unit includes the Kinect sensor, we’ve been able to build functionally into the Xbox One that is inherently aware of your presence and inherently able to understand the commands that you give it. So for example, when you walk into the room and you sit down and want to turn on your V and begin playing, instead of picking up a controller or a keyboard to sign in, Xbox One is able to see you in the room and welcome you back by name if you give it permission to do that,” he added.
On another train of thoughts, Microsoft also released some interesting statistics related to the launch of the Xbox One. While the milestone the console managed to surpass in terms of sales is already old news, some of the fans would still want to know that during the first day after the launch, 60 millions zombies were killed in Dead Rising 3, players managed to cover more than 3.6 million miles in Forza Motorsport 5 and kill more than 8,5 million enemies in Ryse: Son of Rome.
