ReddX, a new Reddit app for the Xbox One, is now available to Xbox One owners in the United States and Canada. Typically, individuals perusing Reddit do so from the comfort of either their laptop or smartphone. However, with ReddX, Xbox One owners can now browse the site using their console, up or downvoting to their heart’s content. There are a variety of features contained in the app, such as Xbox One “Snap,” which allows users to use the app on one side of the screen, while doing something else on the other.
Amusingly enough, ReddX has an achievement system. All Xbox One apps have achievements, however, each of ReddX’s awards contains an image of Microsoft community manager, Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Herb, cosplaying a number of popular internet memes (i.e. Good Guy Greg, Socially Awkward Penguin, et cetera.)
You can find the achievement requirements and a gallery of the meme-inspired achievements here.
Moving on to the more technical side of things, users of the ReddX app will be able to do everything they could do on a computer or smartphone: up/downvote, view images, videos, and GIFs (which the user can pause, rewind, fast-forward, or zoom into), and type/post with the Xbox One controller. Also, individuals can type out responses from their mobile device provided they have SmartGlass. There are a slew of other features within the ReddX app, but I’ll let Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hyrb announce and describe the ReddX app in detail with the video below.
