With the last generation of consoles sporting slim editions a number of years after launch, some fans are eagerly looking forward to – and even waiting exclusively for – similar iterations of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With the Xbox One’s chunky design, it’s hard to imagine a slim edition, but one designer has composed a mock-up of what such a version may look like: sleek, rounded, and much thinner.
Concept art isn’t hard to come by – budding artists reside in all corners of the internet, and if you can think of it, then the chances are someone’s made a mock-up of it. This was the case with coloured versions of the PlayStation 4, and it’s now true of a Xbox One slim edition. Check out the picture below, courtesy of Michael Retovona.
The Xbox One slim concept looks pretty compact, with the top of the chunky console getting a shave, the corners a trim and smooth over, and even the disc tray has been shifted to the right for a smoother integration. While it fits quite well, my Xbox One takes up a fair amount of space on my shelf, so a slim version would be a welcome substitute for me. A problem that many had with the Xbox One prior to launch was its size, especially in comparison to its competition and after the Xbox 360 slim.
While these gripes died down over the months, a slim Xbox One will still be well received by the community in any case – especially if the design looks as good as this.
