The Steam Controller sold out within minutes of going on sale earlier this week. Valve is now opening a reservation queue tomorrow, May 8, at 10am PT — same system used for the Steam Deck launch, where order emails go out as stock becomes available.
The rules are straightforward: one unit per account, three days to complete the purchase once you get the email, and your Steam account needs to have made at least one purchase before April 27. US and Canada fulfillment starts next week; UK, EU, and Australia follow after that.
No word on how long the queue will take to clear. For reference, Steam Deck reservations opened in July 2021 and the system didn’t go into open stock until October 2022 — though the Controller is a simpler piece of hardware, so Valve should be able to move faster this time.
Reservations open on the Steam store page tomorrow morning.
