Shape of Dreams, the fast-paced co-op action roguelite from developer Lizard Smoothie, launches today on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, arriving day one with Xbox Game Pass. The studio announced the release on the PlayStation Blog and Xbox Wire, with developer Eunseop Shim confirming that the console debut lands alongside The Starless Path, the game’s 1st Anniversary Update and its largest update ever.

Nine Travelers and the Ever-Changing Rapids

In Shape of Dreams, players choose one of nine playable Travelers and descend into the Rapids, a dream world that reshapes itself every time you enter. Each Traveler fights differently: Lacerta uses firearms, Shell wields a blade, and Nachia commands summoned companions. Memories serve as the core abilities, while Essences slot into Memories and rewrite how they work. More than 200 Memories and Essences are available, so no two runs are the same.

Every Traveler carries a Traveler Memory (active) and an Identity Memory (passive), and before each run players pick one of two options in each slot. Each Traveler also has a Constellation to fill in, and progress is not lost when a run ends; it accumulates across runs.

The Starless Path Adds Cetus and the Way of Stars

The Starless Path introduces Cetus, a new ranged frost fighter who locks down the battlefield with ice while shielding himself and allies, and who can be built as a ranged mage or a melee bruiser. The update also adds the Way of Stars, a system where each Traveler’s story connects like a constellation, unlocking hidden episodes, illustrations, a new ending, and the toughest final boss yet. Under Fallen Stars and Faded Memories, the Identity Memory can now be swapped for one of 6 Universal Identity Memories, and existing world bosses gain harder attack patterns at higher difficulties.

Co-op, Cross-Play, and a Console Bonus

Shape of Dreams supports solo play and four-player online co-op. In co-op, builds interlock, so one player can freeze enemies while a teammate deals extra damage to frozen targets. Cross-play is live at launch, uniting PS5, PC, and other consoles. More than 1.5 million players have played the game on Steam over the past year, following its September 2025 Steam launch.

Xbox players, including Game Pass members, receive the console bonus costume Crimson Flash Lacerta at no purchase. The console release joins other indie roguelites that have recently arrived on Xbox, including Shard Squad and Ascend to ZERO.
