The ID@Xbox team has curated six Indie Selects for October 2026. The October selection leans into the Halloween season, which Xbox Wire describes as a time for imagination, creativity, and stepping into worlds beyond the ordinary. The six titles are presented in no particular order, and prices range from $19.99 to $49.99. Genres include action, horror, fighting, puzzles, and crafting.
How the Indie Select Hub Works
The Indie Select Hub is updated every Wednesday with a curated indie collection plus four themed spotlights that rotate weekly. It is found in the Xbox Store and on Xbox.com/IndieSelects.
Action and Horror Lead the October Picks
Mortal Shell II from Playstack is listed at $49.99. The challenging action game removes the traditional stamina gauge and delivers faster, more aggressive combat. Players can combine melee weapons, sidearms, abilities, and executions across a compact, interconnected open world with hidden areas, dungeons, weapons, and upgrades. Finding another Shell changes how the player approaches combat.
The Sinking City 2 from Frogwares is also priced at $49.99. This third-person Lovecraftian survival horror game is set in a flooded 1929 Arkham and follows protagonist Calvin Rafferty. A free trial is available.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game from PM-Studios, Inc. costs $29.99. The 2D tag-team fighter brings together characters from “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra,” combining elemental bending, special moves, and team combat.
Cozy Puzzles and a Roguelike RPG Round Out the List
Mewgenics from Nicalis Inc. is priced at $39.99. From Edmund McMillen, the developer behind The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy, and The End is Nigh, it is a roguelike tactical turn-based RPG in a cartoonish macabre art style with a generational breeding system for mutant cats.
Woodo from Daedalic Entertainment is listed at $19.99. The cozy puzzle game has players assemble handcrafted wooden dioramas piece by piece. Its story follows Foxy, a city girl sent to the countryside, and her friendship with a frog named Ben.
Lou’s Lagoon from Megabit Publishing costs $24.99. This cozy exploration-and-crafting adventure centers on reuniting a series of tropical storm-hit islands. Players use a seaplane to fly between archipelagos while searching for a missing uncle named Lou.
