Forest of Deceit, the social deduction party game from Ghost Camp, has received a new localization update adding six languages. Ghost Camp team lead Thomas Mackinnon confirmed the news on Xbox Wire, listing German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Italian as the newly supported languages.
The update follows the game’s release earlier in the year, when localization became one of the most common community requests. Forest of Deceit is narrated by Sylvester McCoy of Doctor Who and The Hobbit fame, and it puts 4 to 8 players in a group where everyone is either an Innocent or a Traitor. Innocents gather resources to build a shelter before a storm arrives, while Traitors try to sabotage the group. Each in-game day sends a gathering party into the forest for resources, and after a few days the group votes to expel suspected Traitors.
Six languages arrive after community demand
Mackinnon wrote that Ghost Camp prioritized the localization work after those requests. Ghost Camp and Mackinnon, who previously created The Corridor and It Takes a War, built the game around conversation between players. The team worked closely with translators, since a player who misreads a button or a choice can end up looking suspicious through no fault of their own. The six new languages leave the core rules unchanged.
A per-player mobile controller option
Each player controls the game through a mobile web browser, and each controller carries its own language setting. According to Ghost Camp, a group can keep the main game in English while one specific player’s mobile controller is set to another language, such as Italian.
The game supports local play and online play via screen share, so this per-player setting can be used whether the group is in one room or spread across different locations. With 4 to 8 players supported, a single speaker can switch their controller without forcing everyone else to follow.
Platforms and availability
The localization update is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC, and Forest of Deceit supports Xbox Play Anywhere. The game is priced at $9.99 and is published by PolyCrunch Games.
