Stranded Deep is free to play on Steam for a limited weekend. Beam Team’s official Steam announcement says the free period runs through October 19 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The game’s US price has also dropped by 60% to $7.99, but that purchase discount lasts three days longer.
Stranded Deep’s free weekend ends October 19
The free-play window started on October 15 and ends on October 19 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. That is 1:00 p.m. EDT and 17:00 UTC. Players can install the game from Steam and play without buying it until the deadline.
This is a free weekend, not a free-to-keep promotion. Steam lists a temporary Play Game option, so continued access after the trial requires a purchase. The store does not list a separate fee for using the single-player or co-op modes during the free period.
| Offer | US Steam details | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Free weekend | Play for $0 during the trial | October 19 at 10:00 a.m. PDT |
| Purchase discount | 60% off, from $19.99 to $7.99 | October 22 at 10:00 a.m. PDT |
The US price is $7.99 until October 22
The US Steam store page lists Stranded Deep at $7.99, down from $19.99. Steam marks the price as a 60% weekend deal and gives it a later end time of October 22 at 10:00 a.m. PDT, or 1:00 p.m. EDT.
The separate deadlines leave a three-day period after the free weekend in which players can still buy the game at the discounted US price. Anyone considering a purchase can also check our Steam refund guide for the platform’s standard eligibility window, playtime limit, and payment timing.
You can survive alone or with a friend
Stranded Deep begins after a plane crash leaves the player stranded in the Pacific Ocean. Survival depends on collecting materials, crafting tools and weapons, building shelter, and traveling between islands. Food, water, exposure, and hostile wildlife all have to be managed while exploring beaches, shipwrecks, and the open sea. Players can also build rafts for longer trips and use crafted weapons for hunting and defense.
Steam lists single-player, multiplayer, online co-op, and shared or split-screen co-op. Remote Play Together is also supported. Beam Team’s free-weekend announcement invites players to enter the game solo or with a friend.
The game also includes Steam Workshop support and a level editor for custom islands. The editor allows players to shape terrain and place trees, rocks, and creatures before adding an island to a survival world. Custom creations can also be shared with other players. Full controller support, achievements, leaderboards, and Family Sharing are listed on the store page. Windows, macOS, and Linux versions are available through Steam.
The promotion also points players toward Stranded Deep 2
Beam Team uses the free-weekend announcement to direct players toward Stranded Deep 2. The sequel changes the setting from the original game’s Pacific islands to an endless desert river. Our Stranded Deep 2 reveal coverage explains the new environment, survival systems, and co-op direction shown so far.
The announcement also highlights the sequel’s Natural Selection developer blog, which covers new desert animals, planned systems, and the design process behind several tools.
