GoPro Launches on Xbox 360; Xbox One Receives Enhanced Video Sharing

Microsoft has announced that it will be launching the GoPro app on the Xbox 360 on Tuesday, April 8 for Xbox Live members around the globe. With the GoPro app, you will be able to stream and manage video content from whichever TV you happen to have your console plugged in to, and to kick off the launch the GoPro app will be offering two exclusive videos that Xbox Live members will be able to view one week before those two videos are available anywhere else.

One of the videos will be of a basketball trick, in which a man in a car attempts to dunk a basketball whilst driving towards the hoop, and the other video is of an extreme snowmobile  jump. Whilst using the app, you will be able to browse and search various categories such as sports, adventure and athletes. You will also be able to watch videos individually or back-to-back within a certain category. What’s more, GoPro cameras and accessories will be available for purchase directly through the app for anyone who wants to make their own video. Purchases in the US will be fulfilled by the Microsoft online store.

The GoPro Channel app will bring the best of GoPro originally-produced and user-generated content into the homes of millions of Xbox Live Gold customers,” said Adam Dornbusch, Head of Content Distribution at GoPro. “We’re excited to launch with exclusive content for early adopters of the app and stoke out the Xbox 360 community with hours of engaging and inspiring GoPro videos through the Channel.”

Finally, the Xbox One’s YouTube app will be receiving an update that will enhance your ability to watch and share videos by integrating the console’s Game DVR and Upload apps with the YouTube app, which in turn will make it easier for you to capture and share game footage with the world. To do this, you’ll need to tick either / both “Share game clips” and “Share on social network” in the app’s Settings.

With this new integration, you will now be able to use Game DVR to capture your gaming moments, use Upload Studio to edit them, and be able to upload them directly to your YouTube channel with a click of a button inside the YouTube app (presumably through My Uploads).

What’s more, the enhancement also allows you to watch YouTube videos in Snap Mode, to add individual videos to your Pins, to earn Media Achievements, and to add your YouTube channel(s) to OneGuide for instant access to YouTube videos next to your TV listing or App Channels.

Microsoft might soon be integrating Xbox 360 emulation into its Xbox One after some considerations, allowing for backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 titles to be played on the Xbox One. It’s also been confirmed that Square Enix’s Murdered: Soul Suspect will run at 1080p and at 30 frames per second on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
