Xbox 360 Titanfall Contains Option To Cap Frame Rate At 30fps

by GH Staff

Players who have finally gotten their hands on the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall will have the option to enhance the visual experience, with a small limitation. The game contains an option to cap the frame rate at 30fps, which will reduce the fluctuation in frame and reduce screen tearing. This might also make for a more consistent controller response, for those hoping to maintain smooth twitch shooting during gameplay. To enable this feature, you have to go to the settings of your game and enable the 30Hz option to ‘Yes’, which can also be done in the middle of a match.

Neither Respawn Entertainment nor Bluepoint Games have commented on the precise usefulness of this option or why they would include it at all. The game has been seen to occasionally rise above 30fps, but this leaves the experience as very inconsistent. Some games have a similar situation where 30fps is the baseline and it occasionally rises when there isn’t much going on in the game. As for Titanfall, the inconsistency could either be a hindrance or a blessing, depending on what kind of player you are. This sort of option may seem redundant in the future, when games will eventually be next gen only and will (presumably) run at 60fps at all times. However, having a frame rate option might be a good step in allowing the players to control their experience. Let us know what you think of having this option, in the comments below.
