In a recent interview, Mojang manager Daniel Kaplan stated that “Minecraft: Xbox One Edition” is on its way into the hands of multiple fans that have eagerly awaited for the latest installment on the Xbox One. With over 12 million+ having downloaded and paid for Minecraft on the Xbox 360, the numbers that we’re expecting to see on the next-gen tier are massive. When it comes to what we’ll expect for the PlayStation 4, the lingering comments on the developmental side have proven to be evasive at best.
Mojang and 4J have said multiple times that the game will be coming to the next-generation consoles, even so there just hasn’t been a lot of new information in recent weeks. Fans have been clamoring on twitter to inquire on potential release dates as well as seek out the latest utterances from Mojang. However, the game developers have retained their silence in consideration that all details will “be made known to the public eventually.”
That’s not too promising if you’re lacking in undue patience for the latest trickle of potential for a next-gen console. Fortunately, Daniel Kaplan alluded to what the Xbox One version will offer in comparison to the popular Xbox 360 Edition. “We’re pushing the limitations of the 360 in various different ways and we will continue doing that. However, bigger worlds would require the guarantee of a hard drive on each 360; since not all 360′s ship with hard drives that makes things tricky. Luckily, on Xbox One, that’s not an issue,” he said.
On the upside, Mojang was seen commenting on the project as a whole on their official website. The entry reads, “for you guys asking about the Xbox One and Playstation 4 edition: It is being worked on as we speak! I got no proper dates yet, but hopefully soon we can tell you!” So nothing is set in stone, but there’s a sense of anticipation surrounding the entire experience of bringing something as flexible and profitable as Minecraft to next-gen consoles. But don’t fall for any of those estimated dates, we’ll be amongst the first to update as soon as we have gotten certain confirmation from Mojang’s development team on when to expect the arrival of the sandbox game.
Notch’s excitement for the Xbox One’s quality of Minecraft was recorded at Gamespot last week, stating that during an interview with Phil Spencer of Microsoft that the overall comment on Xbox One version is “extremely close.” So yes, it is closer than what we’ve expected, but it isn’t here quite yet.
In comparison, the PlayStation 4 version has been overshadowed by the constant updates on the Xbox One field; it’s a fair assumption that it’s not too far behind in the construction of its competitor. Will you be playing on next-gen consoles once Minecraft becomes accessible?
