Bungie considering Destiny PC release

by GH Staff

Whilst Destiny was initially being built for a PC release, design lead Lars Bakken has said “it’s not that simple” in an article for Eurogamer. He continues:

“It’s pretty complicated. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the future, it just means it won’t happen right now”

This is potentially good news for those hoping for an eventual PC release – Bungie are still interested and aren’t ruling out the possibility, it seems. Bakken goes on to discuss how the team is focusing on the console versions first and foremost:

“The console SKUs are really important for us and that’s what we’re focusing on” – “We’re doing it all internally ourselves. That’s a huge endeavor. That’s not something we’ve ever done before.”

Bungie COO Peter Parsons gives more hope for PC gamers, as follows:

“I look forward to our future conversations around PC.” – “We love the PC. We hear it too. We ask the question of ourselves.”

There are currently over 500 people working on Destiny’s console versions, including PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, which will hit shelves September 9. Destiny is the first game Bungie will release since their departure from the Halo franchise in 2011, which has built even more anticipation as the release date get’s close – will it be as good as Halo? Worse? Should we be comparing it to Halo at all? Leave your comments below.
