TOP TEN THINGS TO DO IN DESTINY!
So as we all know Destiny has launched roughly four weeks ago and the world of Destiny has been overran with millions of Guardians that are going to be spending a lot of time with the game and I’m here to give you ten things to do in the game. Although there is a lot more things to do in the game rather than these ten things, these are the things I believe everyone should do at least once in their Destiny career. So without further ado lets go ahead and jump into the list!
10. Admire the scenery!
Rather than going on a random killing spree on all the planets just sit back and take in the beautiful scenery in the game. There are a lot of breathtaking views on every planet and all of them deserve to be looked at! For example when you’re at the tower just look at the Traveler and if you have the time just stand there as the day and night cycle passes. Nothing is more breathtaking than seeing the amazing night sky in Destiny surround the Traveler with the moon hanging high above it. You really can’t deny the amount of detail that Bungie put into this game and it really shows as soon as the game starts and will surely leave a lot of people speechless.
9. Play the raid!
It’s no secret that the raid is one of the most challenging things to do in Destiny but it’s also one of the funnest things to do in the game. The raid is not to be taken lightly but is actually rather easy if you’re a higher level and have a team that knows what they’re doing. But even if you know what to do and have a well put together team it is still incredibly fun and will surely serve its purpose for several weeks. When I first did the raid I was shocked, as was everyone else, with the amount of things to do in it. Starting off the raid blind with no sense of direction or even what to do was one of the best things I’ve done in the game and I recommend that’s how you start it. As you start piecing together what to do and who goes where you get a very strong sense of teamwork and an even stronger sense of being a bad-ass. The raid has a lot of secrets in it and once you complete it an overwhelming wave of joy will hit you and your teammates at once. There will be screaming and there will be cheers, but that’s because completing the raid is a huge accomplishment because that means everyone worked as a team and everyone contributed something to beat it.
8. Join a clan and dominate the game!
Joining a clan in Destiny is possibly one of the best things you can do. You meet new people who share the same interest as you and you also get to dominate the battlefield with your new clan-mates. If you’re sick of getting stuck with random people in the Crucible that aren’t really all that good then joining a clan is definitely for you! You will almost always have a full fireteam of dedicated players that know what to do and you will also have access to the most important weapon in any multiplayer game, communication. Communication is probably the most overlooked aspect in online shooters but the team with the best communication is more than likely to be the team that wins. If you’re having a good time as well as calling out the enemies, objectives, and just work as a team you will be unstoppable. And if you’re in a clan, chances are you will be playing with people who like to win but also like to have fun. Definitely try joining a clan and see how much better your Crucible experience is when the people on your team are actually trying.
7. Strikes!
Although there are only a few strikes in the game most of them are extremely enjoyable and are a great way to pass time as well as level up your rank, weapons, and gear. No doubt doing the same strikes over and over again will get boring but if you need to complete a bounty or you’re close to leveling up a strike will definitely be the best thing to do. You get a decent amount of loot and get a lot of experience upon finishing the strike. Not to mention you get Vanguard reputation and marks if you do it on a higher difficulty. There are also a handful of achievements/trophies you can only get through strikes and they’re a blast to get!
6. Play as every class!
It’s rather easy to stick to one class in Destiny but you should really try out the other classes as well. Each class serve a different purpose on the battlefield and each class have some awesome supers that just need to be tried out! Nothing is really more satisfying as to when you can experience every classes’ ability on your own rather than getting killed and frustrated by it in the Crucible. Even leveling up each subclass for each class is fun and very awarding as you get to decide on a fair scale which one you like the most and you also get an achievement/trophy for doing so. Don’t limit yourself to one class as each class is just waiting for you to give them amazing gear and turn them into the legend they deserve to be. Also not to mention you will have an overwhelming sense of accomplishment if you manage to get each class to rank 30. Heck even rank 28/29 on each class will be satisfying and will take a lot of hard work!
5. Talk to Xûr, he’ll have what you need!
If you have enough strange coins one of the things you need to do in your Destiny career is meet with Xûr on the weekend. He only appears on Friday and Saturday then disappears on Sunday and doesn’t return until Friday rolls around again. But why is it so important to visit this man? Well, he sells exotic items for a small price of strange coins. He sells everything from class specific armor, to weapons, to a random engram. Strange coins are rather tricky to get but can be rather easily obtained if you are a high enough level to do the Weekly Heroic Strike on the hardest difficulty. This is definitely the easiest way to get an exotic weapon or a piece of exotic gear and everyone should take advantage of it. Also, exotic gear holds an outstanding amount of light and can be ungraded to hold even more! If you’re stuck on a rank and need a piece of armor with a lot of light, this is definitely the way to do it.
*Please note that you can only have one exotic weapon and gear equipped at the same time. You cannot have two exotic weapons or two exotic gear equipped at the same time.*
4. Do the Weekly Nightfall Strike!
The Weekly Nightfall Strike is possibly one of the most challenging things to do in the game as it has a bunch of enemy buffs on and if everyone dies it returns you to orbit forcing you to start from the beginning of the strike again. It would be wise to play this with a good group of friends who have a strategy and know what to do. If you manage to complete the strike you will be rewarded with an experience buff until Tuesday and will also be rewarded with a random item (usually of high grade). This is easily the hardest strike you can do and it awards you rather well. I’ve done all of them so far and have been rewarded with two legendary weapons and one exotic weapon, so it’s definitely worth the time. Other than the raid this is probably the most rewarding thing you can do in the game as of now and there’s no question why. Just get together with your Destiny buds and hit this strike up once every week and you will not be disappointed with the outcome, I can assure you that!
3. Dance party! (And having fun in the tower)
Just enjoy the little things in the game and don’t get too hung up on what might have happened between you and the Cryptarch or what happened in the Crucible. There are a lot of things you can do in the tower that are strangely fun and interesting and the first thing is having a dance party. Just start dancing in the tower at the entrance and watch as a random person joins you then that person turns into a crows. I once had the entire lobby dancing where you spawn and we danced until the sun went down and the moon came up! It was strangely satisfying and was quite funny at the same time and if dancing really isn’t your thing don’t fear as there is a soccer ball and a purple beach ball you can play with in the tower. It’s fun playing soccer with your buds or playing with the beach ball trying to make it stay off the ground. You can make many games out of them and it will provide you with a lot of fun if you just want to relax and have pointless fun!
2. The Crucible!
It was sure mentioned a lot above but if you haven’t played the Crucible yet, what are you doing? The Crucible is the place you go when you want to show dominance and when you want to kick some ass! As mentioned above the Crucible is a lot better with a team but can still be enjoyable if you tackle it solo. You have a chance to get rewards at the end of each match and those rewards can be as rare as an exotic weapon or piece of armor, its crazy! The Crucible is a great way to blow off some steam if you’re having a bad day and it’s mainly because you can go on a rampage and show exactly why your Guardian is the best. It’s incredibly fun and will surely take up most of your time once you start getting into it and not to mention it’s basically a new game itself. Some people actually only play the Crucible much like some people don’t even touch the Crucible… But I’m telling you, give it a chance because it is rather addicting and, as mentioned above, you can get some pretty epic stuff from playing it!
1. Join a different faction!
This is definitely the most overlooked feature in the game and you should definitely take advantage of it. Most people don’t even know that you can switch factions and they just stay with the Vanguards thinking that’s the only faction they can gain their reputation for. Do yourself a favor and purchase a class mark from a different faction and start earning reputation for them. They each have different looking armor and different legendary weapons you can choose from. Find the one that fits your style and go nuts! My personal favorite is the Dark Orbit only because the armor looks incredible and extremely different! There are a lot of factions out there and I strongly suggest you pick a different one unless you really dig the Vanguard armor. But it’s nice to have options and it’s even better to obtain different armor sets to help make yourself stand out amongst all the other Guardians!
So that’s about it! Thanks for taking the time to read the article and let me know if you’ve done anything on the list and if you think I missed out on some things. If you want to play some Destiny with me feel free to add me on the Xbox One at Parmersan and if you have any questions please ask them! And for anything else on Destiny stay here. 🙂
