Digital Extremes revealed that Warframe: Tau, its next major update, arrives in December 2026 and moves players beyond the Origin System into the Tau Star Chart. The studio published the news on October 30, 2026 in Digital Extremes’ Steam announcement titled “Warframe: Tau Coming In December.” The update adds the 67th Warframe Brysko and opens with two new Tau locations: the mob-run ring city of Fornax and the badlands of Perita.
Digital Extremes calls the update “our most expansive update ever,” a label the studio applies to the whole Tau expansion. The reveal follows Warframe’s Devstream 198 Tau Part One from October 30 and lands while the Epoch Operation: Taubound event is already running.
Brysko, the 67th Warframe
Digital Extremes describes Brysko as “the world-weary, noir-inspired detective brought to life with an inner monologue voiced by Matt Mercer.” The studio confirms Mercer voices the inner monologue.
Digital Extremes places Brysko in Fornax, where players “hit the streets” of the mob-run ring city and “enforce your own brand of street justice.” His kit includes “an indomitable suite of Abilities, trusty Hound Companion and signature armaments like the Rain & Shine Fist Weapons and Corecracker Exalted Pistol.” The studio names the armaments and the companion but holds back the ability details for a later reveal.
Brysko also introduces the Chimera Skin, which Digital Extremes calls “the first in a new class of premium Customizations.” Similar to a Protoframe, players can switch between his Warframe and Chimera aspects on the fly, with the Chimera aspect offering “a more Sentient appearance and voice-acted dialogue.”
The Tau Star Chart Opens in December
The Star Chart has centered on the Origin System since launch. Tau adds a second region with its own missions and worlds, “a new region of space beyond anything you’ve ever known: the Tau System.” Digital Extremes says players are headed to Tau, “where new worlds ripe for exploration are waiting.”
December opens with “the mob-run ring city of Fornax, as well as the badlands of Perita, with many more planned for future updates.” Fornax is a ring city run by organized crime, and Perita is a hostile desert populated by feuding clans. The Origin System stays active with more content still to come, so players will navigate two systems at once.
Perita and the Dazannah
Perita is the badlands world of the December opening. Although Perita thrived following the events of The Old Peace, the announcement says its ecosystem has since collapsed into a hostile desert populated by feuding clans of Dazannah. Resources and allies are both “notoriously difficult to come by.”
Catulast, the young son of a chieftain, seeks help from the Tenno, the clan’s ancient foe, as the last unconquered clan faces existential peril.
Digital Extremes left the exact December day, the price, and the platform list unannounced. It also has not said what level or quest requirement will gate entry to Tau, whether Tau missions draw on Origin equipment, or how the two systems will sit in the UI.
