Going over today’s smart devices it’s always a good idea to compare it to another smart device. Today we go over the two smart devices to see which out performs who, going over the design, display, sound, camera and battery life. There’s little doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is enjoying extreme hype and popularity right now. It was a phone anticipated by many, and from many points of view, it did not disappoint. But what if we told you that there’s a phone that’s not only cheaper (significantly), but also looks fresh and performs just as well, if not better? Meet the OPPO Find 7, a relatively unknown brand that’s quickly making a name for itself by providing top-notch quality at affordable rates. Is the Samsung Galaxy S5 in danger?
Surprisingly, the OPPO Find 7 screams build quality, and it can easily smoke some of the most popular models out there today. So let’s see how this underdog compares to established giants, such as the Samsung Galaxy S5. Here are the OPPO Find 7’s main specs:

Not impressed? Well, you should be. On paper, this is one of the best smartphones in the world. Period. It has better overall hardware than the Samsung Galaxy S5 (although only slightly, the major difference coming from the extra 1 GB of RAM found in the Oppo), and the screen is absolutely stunning. Not only does it trump the Samsung Galaxy S5’s 1080p 432 PPI 5.1 inch screen on paper, it actually trumps it in reality too. The 2560×1440 2K QHD screen of the Oppo Find 7 brings a stunning 538 PPI that is unrivaled at this point. And wait, there’s more.
If you thought that the Oppo Find 7 is a cheap piece of Chinese junk, you couldn’t be more wrong. The design of the Oppo Find 7 is fresh and frankly, the phone looks great. In many ways, it emanates build quality much like the Sony Xperia Z2. Not that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is necessarily bad in this regard, but Samsung barely changed anything from the previous plastic-based models, and we’re a bit tired of the same old thing every year. On the other hand, the Oppo Find 7 looks great, catches your eye through its uniqueness, and despite being plastic-based as well, is really solid and well built, with some gorgeous edges.
Samsung’s rear camera is arguably better, but the Oppo Find 7 does a very good job too. The front camera provides all you could want for your selfie needs too. As for battery life, both phones feature removable batteries, although the Oppo Find 7 has a slightly bigger one. This doesn’t do much for the phone though, as both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Oppo Find 7 last about the same. There’s no real difference in battery life in real world usage, despite Oppo’s larger battery.
Software-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S5 ships with Android KitKat 4.4.2, where the Oppo Find 7 currently ships with Android 4.3. Samsung wins here on the software side, but the Oppo 7 is about to get KitKat support soon too. Despite that, Samsung’s UI is better for now, and Oppo still needs to work on Android optimization. It’s nowhere near being a deal-breaker though.
Overall, the Oppo Find 7 seems to be the better phone. Where it truly wins is value. The Oppo Find 7 is being released globally this May and June, and will retail for $600, which seems like a bargain for what it offers. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is slightly more expensive, selling for around $700. Thus, the Oppo Find 7 has better traits in general, and manages to cost less. It’s slightly cheaper than the HTC One M8, the Samsung Galaxy S5, and is considerably cheaper than the Xperia Z2, while managing to offer just as much, if not more.
