As we’re drawing in closer to mid 2014, the question arises: Where are Minecraft Xbox One and Minecraft PS4 editions? Mojang and 4J Studios promised these versions a long time ago, and are actively working on both, yet no release date has emerged so far, which causes worry for anyone hoping to pick either one up this year. Can we still hope for a 2014 release date? It seems so.
The highly anticipated update for Minecraft has finally been released, and player feedback is extremely positive so far. 4J Studios have been working hard on delivering the Title Update 14 for the Xbox 360, an update that proves to be game-changing for the popular game. The change-log is consistent, to say the last, and it would be too long to list here, but if you want to see what changes TU14 brings, you can take a look on theĀ official Minecraft forums. How did players receive the update? Saying “positively” would be an understatement.
Thx to @4JStudios for bringing us this awesome new update totally feels like a brand new game :)

What does this mean for 4J Studios? First and foremost, it brings credibility to the small company, the same company that is tasked with bringing Minecraft PS4 and Minecraft Xbox One to life. Mojang isn’t handling these ports, so the huge responsibility falls on the shoulders of 4J Studios. The guys seem more than up to the challenge though, and with TU 14 out of the way, the path is clear for the next-gen versions of Minecraft to arrive. And there’s definitely demand.

Now that TU 14 has been successfully launched, 4J Studios will likely shed more light on what we can expect in Minecraft Xbox One and Minecraft PS4. It seems the Xbox One version will be the first to be completed, with the PS4 version following shortly thereafter. No official release dates were announced for either Minecraft Xbox One or Minecraft PS4 as of yet, but rumors suggest the two will be arriving during the summer and sometime during fall, respectively. The Minecraft PS4 and Minecraft Xbox One versions will bring huge changes to UI, will add consistent amounts of content and will update the game’s graphics engine. While not promising a truly next-gen experience, 4J Studios is confident the new versions of Minecraft will be worthy of Microsoft and Sony’s new consoles.
