Now that the Xbox One Kinect is no longer being bundled with each console, those who own one and didn’t want one can now sell them to Gamestop.

Gamestop has now confirmed that they will be taking in the Xbox One Kinect sensor for $32 cash and $40 of in-store credit. The trade-in will start today and will no longer require you to include the whole console as before. No word has been said on how much they are willing to sell each Kinect or if they will be even selling them at all.  Microsoft has also confirmed that they will be selling the Xbox One Kinect as a stand-alone product as they feel consumers will be more comfortable purchasing it separately.

Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, believes  “consumers love the device,” and believes that developer support will still continue for the Kinect. The sales for current Kinect “theme” games have been poor so far, as the case with Rare and Kinect Sports Rivals. Let’s hope that developers will use the Kinect to entice the consumers to buy the stand-alone Kinect, otherwise it will soon be forgotten and those who still have them won’t have more intriguing reason to kept them, if they weren’t interested in the accessory before.

On June 9th, Microsoft released a Kinect-less Xbox One for the market being priced at $399, the same price as Sony’s PlayStation 4. Ever since then, consoles have been “flying off the shelves” and just goes to prove that people didn’t really want the Kinect. Those who brought the system accessory now have the option to sell it and those who picked up the $399 version can find the Kinect in stores later this year. Gamestop will also be having their Xbox sale starting tomorrow so while your there, try to get good deals. Will Microsoft ever bounce back from the lead they gave Sony in the Console Wars by using the Kinect as their game changer? One things for sure, you can get some money for your Kinects if you don’t use them.
