GameStop is holding a two-day sale revolving around Microsoft’s Xbox One. The sale runs from June 27-28 at all GameStop stores in the United States. If you’re looking for a new console, this weekend would be the time to buy.
There are two main areas that the sale deals with; trade-ins and accessories.
First, any system traded in towards a new Xbox One will get a 50% bonus trade in credit. For example, according to GameStop’s latest traded values chart, an Xbox 360 S with a 320GB HDD has a trade value of $75.00. With the sales 50% bonus, that 360 will be worth $112.50! A PlayStation 3 K Model with a 500GB HDD normally trades in at $80.00. That means you would get a $120.00 trade in credit. With the release of the new $399.99 Xbox One model (the one without the Kinect) you could potentially grab a new one as low as $279.99! Remember, while the base trade in values apply every day, the 50% bonus is only if you’re putting the trade in towards a new Xbox One console.
Second, plenty of accessories and games are on sale as well. With the purchase of a new Xbox One, you can get $20 off a 12-month Xbox Live subscription ($40 after discount) and $10 off a wireless controller ($50 after discount).
Already have an Xbox One? GameStop has a bunch of games and accessories on sale that don’t need a new console purchase to qualify. Check out some of the offers below!

Still not sold on picking up an Xbox One? Keep in mind that the Xbox One is only in its first 10% of its lifespan. With that said, Microsoft can’t deny that it is still having trouble keeping up with Sony’s Playstation 4 as far as worldwide sales are concerned. As most of us know this was largely based on the fact that the Xbox One launched $100.00 more than the Playstation 4, while the Playstation 4 had slightly superior specs.
About a month ago the stat came out showing Sony selling 7 million units, while Microsoft only shipped 5 million to retailers. In other words, the gap of actual ownership is wider than 2 million. However, Microsoft saw some success when it released its Xbox One Titanfall bundle starting at $449.99. This was largely due to the fact that Microsoft was hoping Titanfall would be the exclusive to bring in waves of sales.
Titanfall still hasn’t proved to be quite the exclusive to make people want to go out and buy an Xbox One (although personally I am a fan!). This prompted Microsoft to, once again, listen to the people and put out a lower priced unit. Behold the Xbox-sans-Kinect. The $399.99 model ships without the Kinect but puts the Xbox on the same price point as its PS4 rival.
The question now is will this newly priced model make people want to buy it, when most of their friends have a PS4 (statistically)? That will be the next hurdle Microsoft will have to face, but while I believe while the Xbox One may never beat the PS4 in sales due to the huge lead Sony currently has, they will definitely level the playing-field.
