Xbox Isn’t Even Mad at Bungie About Destiny

Whenever someone made fun of Xbox consoles for not having any exclusive games, Halo was always the first counter argument that came to mind. Microsoft had Bungie to thank for the Halo games — they owned the company after all. Unfortunately for Microsoft, it seems that Bungie has slipped through their fingers.

With the development of Bungie’s new game Destiny, it seems they have set their sails to more PlayStation-y shores. The game’s alpha version was available as a PlayStation console exclusive, there’s the possibility of a PlayStation 4 Destiny bundle, and the beta will start on PlayStation consoles first.

PlayStation is in a constant blood battle with Microsoft, always in the running against them for game and console sales, competing heavily at E3, and the like. One could only imagine that Bungie’s kindness towards Playstation when it comes to Destiny would create some tension between them and Microsoft: after all, Destiny has had obscene amounts of press coverage, gamers are extremely excited for it, and Activision is expecting it to make them billions, as Call of Duty did before it.

When a fan asked Xbox through a tweet if the company was “mad at Bungie”, about the whole situation, the response was surprising.

“No, not at all,” answered Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. “Just want them to build a great game.”

Only time will tell if Xbox is, in fact, hiding its broken heart. Finding out PlayStation ultimately got more money from Destiny than they did may be a deciding factor, too.
