I think we can all agree that Lindsay Lohan typically garners a lot of attention from the legal system. The Parent Trap star has gotten into quite a lot of trouble over the years for offenses such as DUI, assault, and even larceny. She’s been in rehab quite a bit and has spent a long time on probation as well. This time, however, Lohan is the not the one being potentially prosecuted. She is the one bringing up a case for once, and the targets are Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. She believes that these video game manufacturers created a character in her likeness without her permission in the new Grand Theft Auto 5 video game.
According to Lohan, the character in question in this installation of the Grand Theft Auto franchise includes the usage of her voice, appearance, and even her clothing line. She did consent to lending her voice to the disclaimer for Comedy Central’s Tosh.0, so you can listen to that recording and judge for yourself. The game also allegedly depicts West Hollywood ‘s Chateau Marmont Hotel, where Lindsay Lohan has been known to reside. If that’s not enough “evidence” to back up Lohan’s pending suit, there is mission in which the player is charged with protecting this seemingly controversial from paparazzi since the character is an actress in the game as well with the name “Lacey Jonas”. There are notable flaws in Lohan’s case, however. For one thing, the building she claims is representative of the fashionable hotel she stayed at for a period of time does not actually share the name of it. Instead, GTA 5 includes a place called Gentry Manor Hotel. And while it is also somewhere in Southern California, it is not unreasonable to say that any location potentially linked to Lohan might be a coincidence. After all, California is home to many stars. As a result it is very possible for a video game character to resemble one in some way unintentionally. I for one don’t think the character sounds like her at all. It is also likely that her case will not stand due to a game maker’s right to satire, so long as no false information about any potential character models are provided. To be perfectly honest, the portrait in question looks more like Kate Upton than Lindsay Lohan. So while it is not certain who, if anyone, the character is modeled after, she likely has no real case. Not to mention that one mission has no real relevance to the overall game or gameplay, and can easily be overlooked.
