Table Top Racing initially debuted on the mobile platform, it was a well received simple to play racer that some felt was held back due to the lack of being able to control the acceleration of your vehicle yourself. The racer is now making its way to PS Vita and I must say it is a blast.
The game hasn’t changed overly from its first release, but improvements have been made to ensure that the PS Vita version is better than the mobile version.
For those of you that have never heard of the game, it is very much a micro machine, type racing game in which you race various vehicles around table tops, hence the name. Vehicles range from ice cream vans to sports cars each having their own weaknesses and strengths when it comes to speed, acceleration etc.
The vehicles have some linear cutomization there too for a more personal experience and the variety of things you can do with your vehicle is what makes the game so refreshing and addictive.
There are your bog standard race tips from endurance to time trials, but most importantly, there is a bunch of arcade styles in there too. You can try out combat racing, challenges and even head online for some network action.
Table Top Racing even has a leveling system and leveling up unlocks more vehicles. Coins that you get from racing can be used to purchase the various visual and engine modifications as well as extra vehicles. Visually the game hasn’t changed much which basically means that it still looks great. The initial release was heavy on micro transactions and although you can still purchase in game currency, you won’t need to this time round.
Most importantly, you can now control the acceleration using the PlayStation Vitas buttons and analog sticks which I am sure for most will be a welcomed addition to the game mechanics.
Table Top Racing is a solid title on Vita, it may not have changed much, but it as surely changed for the better. I hope plenty of you check this game out as it is extremely fun and online its an absolute bash.
