Quick Answer

Both the brands have tried to come up with a good budget phone with these two handsets. These phones have been in the market since the first quarter of 2014; Moto G was released earlier among the two. So which budget phone is the best among the two? Let us find out.

Motorola Moto G

The phone allows us superior 3G connectivity options. Being released in November 2013 the phone has quite good features. It is almost one third of the price value of that of HTC One M8 but we are to check out which phone is a better value for money.

Design & Display

The phone has very good picture quality given its price. It has superior 4.5 inch IPS LCD screen with a pixel resolution of 720x 1280 pixels, which is approximately 326 pixels per inch. This makes the phone much brighter. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 feature.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

We get an 8/16 GB internal memory option without any microSD slot in this phone. It also sports a 1 GB RAM. It has a 5 MP camera which lacks a sensor like M8 but has LED flash, autofocus and geo tagging features. Even though the phone was initially available in Android OS JellyBean, it can now be upgraded up to Android KitKat OS. The battery has a 54h endurance rating.

HTC One M8

If you compare HTC One M8 with Moto G based on solely their specs then both of them will have a lot of difference. So let us check the high performance M8 based on its quality of feature accumulation.

Design & Display

To start with this phone has a Super LCD3 capacitive touch screen of 5 inches which has 441 pixels per inch density resolution. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 enabled in it. Needless to say, the phone is bright – but not bright enough given the other phones of its price range.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

It was initially available in Android OS v4.4.2 but is now upgradable only up to v.4.4.3. For recent times, we get Android up to v4.4.4 in the market. It also has a microSD slot up to 128 GB and is available in 16/32 GB internal storage capacity. It has dual 4 MP cameras with sensors, HD video recording and other such features enabled.

Overall

HTC One M8 should have had a better sound quality for it price. Given the other features, we would have expected a higher RAM and now we have a better processor speed than that for that price range in the market. Moto G on the other hand gives a great package in its price range. Therefore in terms of feature accumulation, Moto G definitely takes the cake.
