As you might recall, the latest Saints Row DLC has us playing as Gat, in Hell, aiming to piss off Satan himself. If you want to read more about the DLC, check out one of my other articles here. We’ve been shown another five minutes of new gameplay, showcasing some features we already know about, and some that we don’t. Here’s the gameplay:
We see the Exodus 10, the locust plague contained within a gun, pelting enemies with locusts. Again, we see the Armchair-ageddon, named after Sloth, one of the Seven Deadly Sins. New Hellblazing footage is shown, similar to Blazing from previous Saints Row games, except with flight, having you navigate through tight corners while flying at high speeds.
A new diversion is introduced called the Rambulance, pretty much the polar opposite of an ambulance, your aim is to kill as many pedestrians as possible (I do this anyway when I play the game, but it’s nice to see it incorporated as a minigame). We also see new areas of Hell, shanty towns which are all dilapidated, and where the poorest souls in Hell are sent to live.
Gat is also able to summon Imps, which just help you attack enemies, generic disposable minions basically. Gat’s Warhammer has a Smite ability which rains lightning down on opponents, Thor style. These are a few of the new weapons shown, here’s hoping Hell grants Gat even more badass weapons.
Taking down Satan’s spires also pisses him off. Spires are scattered around Hell and are destroyed by ripping out its heart. Marshalling grounds are protected by Archdukes of Hell, which seem to be a form of miniboss, the gameplay unfortunately cuts off before we see the battle.
