This year has seen the release and announcement of a number of spectacular devices from different mobile phone manufacturers. LG released their LG G3 while HTC have announced HTC Desire 820 amongst many other high-end phones. Below is how this LG G3 compares with the Desire 820.
Design
These two phones are almost matched in terms of design. The HTC is 6.21 x 3.10 by 0.30 inches while LG G3 goes for 5.76 x 2.94 by 0.35 inches. Their weights are also closely matched with the HTC weighing 155 grams, just 6 grams more than the G3.
Display
Both devices have 5.5 inch screens although that of the LG is more vibrant and clearer given that it has 538 ppi pixel density compared to HTC’s 267 ppi. Furthermore, the LG has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels whereas the Desire 820 could only manage 720 x 1280 pixels. LG also went ahead and gave their smartphone an oleophobic coating on top of the usual light and proximity sensors.
Camera
Again, there is very minimal difference in the two cameras. Both phones have 13 MP rear cameras although HTC chose to go with a powerful front facing camera at 8 MP compared to LG’s 2.1 MP. However, the LG can record 4K videos at 30 fps unlike the HTC that can only take 1080p videos.
Hardware and Operating System
These two phones have some of the most powerful processors and chipsets in the mobile industry. The HTC has an 8-core, 64-bit processor that is clocked at 1500 MHz. On the other hand, the LG has a 4-core processor clocked at 2500 MHz with a memory of 3 GB. Desire 820 has 2 GB of RAM. To match this state of the art hardware, they have the latest android operating system, 4.4.2 with support for future upgrades.
Battery
LG G3 has a 3000 mAh built-in battery that gives it a talk time of 21 hours while on 3G. The HTC comes with a 2600 mAh battery. This difference does not really have a major impact in standby and talk times for the two gadgets.
Other Features
These two being some of the best smartphones today, they are equipped with a number of additional features. Both devices have LTE data support, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi support. However, it is important to note that G3 has Wi-Fi ac support while the HTC can connect to Wi-Fi networks in the 5 GHz range.
Verdict
LG G3 managed to exceed the standards previously set by the G2 and even this HTC Desire 820 is no match for this flagship device from LG.
