Earlier this week, Gamer Headlines published a number of articles regarding some problematic console-specific errors and general widespread bugs concerning Ubisoft’s recently released Far Cry 4.
In regards to one of the more severe bugs afflicting many Far Cry 4 players, Ubisoft has released a guide detailing how those playing the game on PS3 can alleviate the issue. Granted, it’s a bit more on the brute force side of things, but the Far Cry 4 publisher/developer guarantees it will fix the problem.

Far Cry 4 PS3 Data Corruption Bug Fix
On Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4 Live Updates page, the company has published a set of instructions instructing PS3 Far Cry 4 players to to delete the game from his or her system’s hard drive, go the PlayStation Store, and re-download an updated version of the game. As previously mentioned, it’s not as sexy as a traditional game patch, but it does the trick.
You can read Ubisoft’s post on Far Cry 4‘s Live Updates page here, or simply read it below:
We want to assure you that we have kept a close eye on the “delete FC3 game data issue” experienced by some PS3 players who downloaded the game digitally. We have identified a solution, and a new version is now available for download.
If you are an affected player, you must completely delete the existing version of the game and then go to the store and re-download the correct version of the game.
To remove the existing version:
1) Navigate to the ‘Game’ option from the XMB
2) Highlight the installed version of the game and press the triangle button
3) Select ‘Delete’ and confirm the prompt
4) While still in the ‘Game’ option, select ‘Saved Data Utility (PS3)’
5) If a Far Cry 4 save file exists, highlight it and press the triangle button
6) Select ‘Delete’ and confirm the prompt to remove the save file
7) Repeat this step for all Far Cry 4 save files in the folder
8) While still in the ‘Game’ option, select ‘Game Data Utility’
9) Highlight the Far Cry 4 game data and press the triangle button
10) Select ‘Delete’ and confirm the prompt to remove the game dataNote: you do not need to delete any save files from previous versions, including Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon!
After this is complete, to install the correct version you must select ‘PlayStation Store’ from the ‘Game’ menu option, then download the game again from the Far Cry 4 product page. The new file should appear with a size of 9.4GB.
This should not affect players using disc-based versions of the PS3 game. Future downloads should also not be affected by this issue.

Interestingly enough, Far Cry 4’s PS3 data corruption bug has reportedly only been affecting those with a digital copy of Ubisoft’s open-world game. However, Ubisoft states that future PS3 digital versions of Far Cry 4 should no longer be affected by the issue.
Furthermore, in response to a host of issues affecting different versions of Far Cry 4 on various platforms, Ubisoft has said that the company will release the game’s next patch (Patch 1.4.0) tomorrow, November 21st, and that it should address a number of other reported problems with the game.
What are your thoughts on Far Cry 4‘s technical issues? It’s been lauded as a great game by a number of reviewers, and its release (and following issues) has not been as terrible as last week’s Assassin’s Creed Unity launch, but do you think that gives Ubisoft some leeway in regards to the game’s problems?
